Description/Details of engines | A significant investment was made in December 2016, when Norvic performed a strip and rebuild to replace the camshaft and followers. Since this rebuild, it has flown 205 hours, during which time the cylinders received new rings, pins, plugs, high-chrome exhaust valve guides, honing, and valve reseating. Additionally, the group has invested in an overhauled carburettor, overhauled mags, new leads, new plugs and hoses. |
Avionics | PS Engineering audio panel with a four-place intercom. The avionics panel includes a Narco Mk12D with ILS, a Narco 841 ADF, a King KN 64 DME, and a King KT 76A Mode C transponder. |
Other remarks | When you look at Cessna aircraft all the time, you get to know the good ones. This French-built 172 Mike is highly desirable due to its long-range 52 USG tanks, corrosion proofing, 40 degrees of flaps, and its ability to use UL91 fuel long into the future. We've sold F172M aircraft like this before to owners who have completely upgraded them, but it’s refreshing to see one in such original condition, leaving no doubt about its underlying value.
EI-BIR is a 1974 model that has been hangared and well-maintained by an attentive group. We have a soft copy of the time-life maintenance tracking sheet available for interested parties. Key details include 7291 hours TTAF, 1225 hours SMOH (completed in March 1996) on its 150hp Lycoming O-320-E2A engine, and 241 hours SPOH on the McCauley 7553 fixed-pitch prop, last overhauled in February 2015. A significant investment was made in December 2016, when Norvic performed a strip and rebuild to replace the camshaft and followers. Since this rebuild, it has flown 205 hours, during which time the cylinders received new rings, pins, plugs, high-chrome exhaust valve guides, honing, and valve reseating. Additionally, the group has invested in an overhauled carburettor, overhauled mags, new leads, new plugs, and hoses, and upgraded the radio to a Funke ATR 833S.
When the radio was upgraded, the group also had an entire wiring loom manufactured, tidying up behind the panel and installing a PS Engineering audio panel with a four-place intercom. The avionics panel includes a Narco Mk12D with ILS, a Narco 841 ADF, a King KN 64 DME, and a King KT 76A Mode C transponder. Notable additions include an avionics master switch, and an unfitted set of main gear wheel fairings with brackets, axle fittings, and leg fairings.
The interior plastics are in better-than-average condition, as is the Perspex. The seats and side trims have been reupholstered in vinyl, and there are front seat shoulder harnesses, along with a pilot-side opening window. The aircraft retains its original paint, which is in impressive condition, having not been machine polished. With some thoughtful touch-ups and the addition of spats, this aircraft could look entirely different cosmetically.
We rarely come across 172s that haven’t been used in flight school settings; this aircraft was originally employed for aerial photography and then operated by a group. It has a useful load capacity of 850 lbs and is in ARC/Annual until June 19, 2025. Compression checks have been excellent, past oil analyses have been satisfactory, and we welcome any pre-purchase inspection once terms have been agreed. Someone will get fantastic flying out of this one over Christmas! |
